Early Times Report

Jammu, June 3: Harping on single policy of destabilizing livelihood of Kashmiris adopted by Hurriyat has drawn flak within cadres expressing difference of opinion and opening doors for revolt against Chief of Hurriyat (G).
Recapitulation the origin of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), it was revealed that 26 political, social and religious organizations formed on March 9, 1993 as a political front to raise the cause of Kashmiri independence. The APHC considers itself to be the sole representative of the Kashmiri people. Its primary role has been to project a negative image of counter insurgency operations in J&K and to mobilize the public opinion against the Indian security forces.
The brief history of APHC revealed that internal fissures within the Hurriyat Conference emerged and culminated in a formal split on September 2003 with atleast 12 out of 26 constituents. The reports divulged that the dissenters reportedly met at the residence of hardliner and pro-Pakistan Jammat-e-Islami leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani and removed the then chairman Mohammad Abbas Ansari . Since then Geelani formed his own faction of Hurriyat getting himself elected as its Chairman in October 2004. Hurriyat Conference again suffered spilt in 2014 because of internal bickerings and moderate Hurriyat conference led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq faced spilt after its four senior leaders raised a banner of revolt against its chairman who were up in arms against Mirwaiz.
While talking to Early Times, Mohamad Hussain, an educated youth, said that Hurriyat leaders have been criticized for instigating youth of Kashmir for Jihad and stone pelting misguiding them to abandon their studies for a bigger cause while their own children and family members are kept away from their so called Kashmir struggle for getting best education in other parts of the country and even abroad.
Disclosing hypocritical approach of Sayed Ali Shah Geelani and others, Shrief Muhammad, who calls himself a nationalist said that separatists are using youth of Kashmir on the name of freedom struggle spoiling their career ,but elder son of Geelani, Nayeem Geelani is a medical practitioner in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Nayeem's wife is also in the same profession there. His second son, Zahoor Geelani alongwitg his family lives in New Delhi. Grand son of Geelani, Izhaar Geelani is a crew member of a private airliner in India while his daughter Farhat Geelani is a teacher in Jeddah and her husband is an engineer there. He said that if people like Geelani are really sincere for their cause then why he has kept his kin in the safer zone which is a big question mark on the credentials of such well wishers of Kashmiris revealing that it is a fake struggle to achieve interests other than what he is posing to Kashmiri community.
The insiders fearing backlash from these leaders say hesitatingly that staging fake protests projecting freedom struggle is based on paying gullible poor Kashmiris employed youth for illegal acts . According to stone pelters who were arrested while pelting stones, each store pelter is paid Rs. 400 every Friday. The media reports appearing in a section of newspapers revealed that another revolt within the moderate Hurriyat of Mirwaiz is raising its opposition rebuffing the policy of bandhs and strike calls being issued frequently by Hurriyat (G) which speaks enough of differences cropping up in various groups of separatists threatening their unity.
A citizen of Kashmir Zahoor Khan responding to query of Early Times correspondent about rumpus created by separatists in the valley on one issue or the other, he expressed his annoyance and said that excess of everything is bad ostensibly saying that every action within the limits is welcomed in the civilized society and crossing limits becomes a source of headache for people and that is how is the general condition of people in Kashmir now. Another person of eminence from Kashmir wishing not to be quoted said that each faction of separatists' group is pulling towards directions diametrically opposite to one another to achieve their vested interests, adding that they have no genuine cause in hand to fight except parroting freedom to befool people of State.
Which freedom they are clamouring for since 1993 when APHC came into existence and what they have achieved except death and destruction of poor Kashmiris and majority of Kashmiri people who are enjoying freedom under the present democratic set up, are being made to live like slaves by these separatists confining them to their homes apprehending bad repercussions both from separatists' groups who throw calls of hartals and militants supporting separatists who have no religion and no respect for ethics, moral and precious values of life.
Elite section of society in Kashmir including Kashmiri Pandits say that there is no well defined policy of Union Govt about Kashmir and weakness of centre to continue appeasing Kashmiris has emboldened these few numbers of separatists who are on the prowl to create disturbance for people of J&K, especially of Kashmir. They are of the strong view that law and order is never weak in its letters and spirits but the implementing agencies of law under the nose of Centre and state governments have been crippled and made lamb to quell the noise of separatists with full, final and forceful assault on their unlawful activities. Sadiq Hussein ,who is migrant from Kashmir and saw all this nonsense since teenage, said that all previous governments at the Centre functioned as subservient to state government for unknown reasons and never sincerely attempted to create environment conducive for people of State yearning to live in peaceful atmosphere.
