Son protests in Assembly, father dances at Tagore Hall | Dr Abdullah's latest video of ballroom dance goes viral | | Early Times Report srinagar, June 3: While former Chief Minister and National Conference, President, Omar Abdullah has been staging frequent walkouts at Legislative Assembly here during the ongoing Budget session complaining that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are "suffering unheard" in the present regime, his father and NC patron Dr Farooq Abdullah is spending good time on dance floors of cultural shows organized by the government. A latest video has gone viral on the social media wherein Dr Farooq Abdullah on June 1, danced at Tagore Hall, while noted singer Waheed Jeelani sang a mesmerizing number "Radhay Radhay" during a musical show "Shereen Lahan". While Dr Abdullah was the chief guest, Peoples Democratic Party youth leader Waheed Parra was the guest of honor at the event hosted by Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Government of India in collaboration with the Kashmir Music Club. At the concluding ceremony, there was a public demand that Dr Abdullah displays his dancing and singing skills. Abudullah picked up the microphone to entertain the audience, which went jubilant. Subsequently it was time to dance. This was when Waheed Jeelani again took up microphone, almost knowing the number, which the chief guest would like. And, the music was played. While flamboyant Abdullah is known for his love for music and Bollywood, what remained more surprising was that he danced a ballroom sequence with former bureaucrat Farooq Nazki. Dr Farooq, invited Nazki, his longtime friend to join him on the floor. While Abdullah played a male partner, Nazki danced to his hand movements, much like a woman does in such romantic sequences. The audience got up from their seats with many taking out smart phones to capture the moments in their cameras. The video is presently doing the rounds on Facebook and Twitter. It was Dr Abdullah's second major performance on the dance floors this year. On February 3, Dr Abdullah showed some of his finest dance moves in the national capital with Bollywood star Ranveer Singh on the tunes of "Malhari" from Baji Rao Mastani during a media event hosted by noted journalist Barkha Dutt. The duo's impromptu dance came as a surprise for the audience, including Omar Abdullah who was also present on the occasion. That video had also gone viral and equally hogged the headlines. Interesting, PDP spokesman Naeem Akhter had hailed his bete noir Dr Abdullah for the remarkable performance saying "Masha Allah Nazar Na Lagay." In the recent past, Dr Abdullah has been candidly admitting that rather than a politician he would "love to be an actor." His love for glamour world is nothing new. Prior to eruption of militancy, the enigmatic Abdullah would make it to gossip world for dating divas like Rekha and Shabana Azmi. Years on, he continues to steal the show. Even during the '1990s, he once teased the then sizzler Mamta Kulkarnee during a stage performance asking her: "Tujh Ko Mirchi Lagi Tao Mein Kya Karun?" |
