Pak spurns India's peace initiatives; JeM, LeT terrorists call shots

Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 3: As the terror groups like Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) continue to make recruitments in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir, the Pakistan Minister for Kashmir Affairs Chaudhry Barjees Tahir has said Pakistan would continue its political, diplomatic and moral support to Kashmiris.
It's an clear indication of the fact that Pakistan Kashmir policy is unchanged and it's not interested in acting against the terrorists operating from its soil.
"The statement of Barjees Tahir has exposed Pakistan once again. India should not hold any talks with Pakistan as it has been proven beyond doubt that neighboring country is not interested in mending its relations with India," said an analyst.
He said that recently US's state department in its annual 'Country Reports on Terrorism - 2015' said that the Pakistani military and security forces undertook operations against groups that conducted attacks within Pakistan such as Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP), but did not take action against externally-focused terror groups.
Quoting the report the analyst said some UN-designated terrorist groups, such as Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) affiliates Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) and Falah-e-Insaniyat Foundation (FiF) were able to raise funds and hold rallies in Pakistan.
The LeT and JuD leader Hafiz Saeed, who is also an UN-designated terrorist, was able to make frequent public appearances in support of the organization's objectives, which were covered by the Pakistani media.
The External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Vikas Swarup on Thursday criticized Pakistan for "needlessly internationalising" the Kashmir issue while asserting that the main cause of tension between the two countries was externally sponsored terrorism was the central issue.
He said Pakistan needs to end its illegal occupation of parts of Jammu and Kashmir and stop interfering in India's internal matters.
"Swarup's statement is a welcome step. It's after a long time that India has made it clear that terrorism is the main cause of tension and Kashmir is an internal issue and Pakistan should not interfere in it," the analyst said.
He said, "The Prime Minister Narendra Modi had extended the hand of friendship towards Pakistan by stopping over at Lahore and attending the wedding ceremony of Nawaz Sharif's grand-daughter. A few days after PM's visit to Pakistan the Jaish terrorists attacked the airbase at Pathankot and shattered the PM, Modi's, peace initiative."
"During the past few months Pakistan High Commissioner in New Delhi has left no stone unturned to entertain the Kashmiri separatists and has been inciting them to trigger unrest in Kashmir, " he added.
The analyst said, "The BJP led NDA government softening its stand towards Pakistan and expressing its desire to establish peace with the neighboring country is being considered our weakness."
A defence analyst said, "Pakistan won't mend its ways till a stern action is taken against the terrorists operating from PoK and Pakistan and their camps should be destroyed."
