He is alleged to be involved in serious criminal cases | DAK demands removal of DHS | | S Tahir-ul Haq
Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, June 6: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) today demanded immediate removal of director health services (DHS), Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman from his position as he was allegedly facing serious criminal charges. Ridiculing his appointment as DHS, DAK president, Dr Nisar ul Hassan, in a statement issued to press, said it was unfortunate that instead of sacking him, he was rewarded for committing criminal offence. "On one hand government claims of clean administration, on the other, it promotes and gives plum postings to the tainted officers," alleges the statement. Statement reads that, how government can post a person to head a crucial department who is involved in grave charges. It sends a wrong signal, the statement alleged. The president alleges that the DHS was faced with the charges of corruption and molestation and cases against him were pending with State Vigilance Organization (SVO) and courts. He is allegedly involved in the supply of 2 lakh tablets of fake drug 'maximizin' to government hospitals. His alleged role in the molestation of former woman minister also needs to be probed, DAK said. It was only after public outcry that last year he was attached but when the things settled he was recalled. DAK president appealed to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to intervene to provide a clean administration to the people. He said, "Media has played a vital role in exposing his wrongdoings but we are surprised at their silence now when he is called back," sources said. |
