Jammu, June 6: Sham-sheer Hakla Poonchi, a prominent Gujjar leader today urged Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to pass a bill in ongoing session to continue reservations in promotion of Government employees belonging to Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe, and other backward classes. Hakla said that every sphere of life, reservation is the need of the hour and is a necessity for Schedule Tribe, Schedule Caste, and other backward classes' communities. Laying a specific stress on the matter, Shamsheer Hakla said the status of Schedule Tribe granted to the Gujjar and Backward Community on April 19, 1991 by the GoI has completed 25 years while state government has not been implementing it in letter and spirit to give full benefit of Schedule Tribe status for the Gujjar and Bakarwal Community. They further said that the Community is still socially, educationally, economically and politically lagging behind and backward. |
