Out of 104 projects, centre approves only 25 for J&K | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, June 10: The Union Government has approved just 25 projects out of 104 recommended by Jammu and Kashmir during the year 2015-16. Among the projects which had been unapproved included widening and upgradation of Srinagar-Chirar-e-Sharief road from Rambagh to Machoo partly two lane and partly four lane, upgradation of road from Tatoo Ground to Khumani Chowk via Bemina bypass and widening and upgradation of Rambagh Padshahi Bagh Nowgam road. This information was given by Minister in reply to a question by member in the Legislative Assembly today. He said 104 projects were recommended to Minister of Road Transport and Highway for sanctioned under Central Road Fund (CRF) during 2015-16 at a total cost of Rs 2,860 crore. However, only 25 projects at a cost of Rs 785.56 crore were sanctioned by the ministry. These works shall be taken up for execution after necessary tendering and other codal formalities are fulfilled, the minister said. The reply said five projects were completed under CRF during the last two years of 2013-14 and 2014-15 in the state. It said 34 each projects were unapproved in Kashmir and Jammu while 11 in Ladakh region. The other projects unapproved in Srinagar included construction and upgradation of road from Natipora junction to National Highway bypass via Barzulla hospital bund and Gangbugh, improvement of roads around Fort connecting various religious and tourist destinations Nagar Nagria and widening of Bauchpora to Hazratbal road. |
