Transfer industry working overtime in PHE, 'Summer sale' of lucrative postings on | | | Abodh Sharma Early Times Report Jammu, June 10: Defying transparency claims of the Chief Minister, the notorious transfer industry is working overtime, allegedly manufacturing huge fortunes for those at the helm of affairs. Sources within the department disclose that a consortium of two AEEs, one of them manning an important procurement wing and an Ex En in the office of the Chief engineer are running the transfer racket in which huge money is exchanging hands. "One or two orders are published every Saturday, on the behest of these officers who target, manipulate and extract money from the engineers by putting lucrative postings on sale" said a source within the department. "Sometimes even the Chief Engineer is kept in dark and postings are made in lieu of huge pecuniary considerations" he added. "If at all the transfers are to be affected, a proper procedure should be followed and a comprehensive and detailed list should be published in one go; these single and piece meal orders are glaring violation of transfer policy and nothing but tactics to extort money in lieu of lucrative postings" said a former officer I&FC department. Pertinently, transfer industry has been active in engineering departments of the state including PHE, R&B, UEED, Estates, Police Housing Corporation and others as stakes are high for a posting in these lucrative departments. A list of most corrupt departments published by Mufti administration included R&B and PHE at the top. Sources allege that the officers who pay filthy money to secure a lucrative posting then resort to corrupt means and siphon off funds from schemes of public welfare and those at the helm of affairs are left with little choice but to turn a blind eye to their misdeeds. |
