Anantnag, June 10: For the first time, since she filled her nomination papers, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti will visit various areas of Anantnag assembly segment today to wow voters. Sources said that Mehbooba Mufti will hold a road show in Anantnag on Saturdaythat is going to polls on 22nd of this month. During the visit, she will address small gatherings and will seek votes from them, as she seeks to become a member of the state legislature within the mandatory period of six months from her swearing-in as CM. Sources revealed that PDP has formed three groups, who during past over two weeks have mobilized the party's vote bank through a rigorous door-to-door campaign. Highly placed sources said that two groups will continue their routine tasks related to campaign, however a group led by PDP General Secretary Sartaj Madni will be accompany Chief minister Mehbooba Mufti throughout the day. Public works department Minister, Abdul Rehman Veeri, General Secretary Sartaj Madni and district president Anantnag Advocate Javed comprise one group while as PDP's South Kashmir coordinator Mufti Sajad, G M Takhur is another group that is concentrating in lower belt of the constituency. Party's youth group led by Youth President Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra and General Secretary Imran Khaki is too wowing the voters in Anantnag from past over two weeks. "Yes Mehbooba ji is visiting Anantnag on Saturday and will addressed roadside gatherings," District President Anantnag, Advocate Javed confirmed to Early Times. Pertinent to mention here, none among the three political parties-PDP, NC and Congress- has so far organized big rallies as a show of strength. "We don't want to put our voters in trouble," Youth Congress leader Naseer Ahmad Mir told Early Times, adding Congress will continue with its Door-to-Door campaign. "Contractors, employees and others representing various organizations support our candidate but they aren't ready to support us publicly as they fear repercussions," a senior congress leader said. The bypoll scheduled on June 22 is taking place to elect a legislature from the assembly seat which has fallen vacant with the demise of former chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on January 7 this year. The Election Commission of India had earlier announced the bypoll on May 16 but later postponed it on the request of the state government, which cited law and order concerns. |
