Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, June 10: Notorious for allocation of works in complete violation of codal formalities, JKPCC has hit the headlines yet again for allocating work on Conference hall worth more than 1 crore rupees to a blue eyed contractor.
Details available with Early Times reveal that a blue-eyed contractor who actually works as Technical Officer in PWD (R&B) has been allotted the said work at Rajbagh Engineering complex in the name of his son. Sources say that work was allotted without tendering the same inspite of the fact that JKPCC has been directed to tender all its works from last year.
Few days back General Manager (GM) of J&K Projects Constriction Corporation (JKPCC) paid a surprise visit to Psychiatric hospital in Srinagar after Early Times had filed a story against the JKPCC, whose officials were facilitating the usage of B -grade bricks in the under construction building within hospital premises. General Manager (GM) JKPCC
GM ordered that use of said bricks should be stopped and also directed his officials to issue fresh tenders for sanitary , electric , truss work , plaster work etc.
Pertinently Kashmir valley's lone Psychiatric hospital also known as Mental hospital has been in shambles as the construction work undertaken in 2013 is yet to be completed by the J&K Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC). The JKPCC was supposed to complete the construction work in December 2015, but due to negligence of the officials of JKPCC especially its Manager and JE, only 40 % of construction work has been completed. JKPCC authorities are using B-grade bricks during the construction and Early Times is in possession of some photos of these bricks as well.
Principal of Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar made several correspondences with the MD of JKPCC for early competition of work, but the JKPCC hardly gave any importance to Principal's letters. Sources say that B-class bricks are being used in the construction. JKPCC was earlier exposed as they had allotted 17 crore bridge work to a blue eyed contractor in Ganderbal.
As per authentic sources JKPCC has also allotted construction of ITI building Bandipora, Degree College Tangdar and Gurez to another blue-eyed contractor without tendering these works. It is alleged that a JE of JKPCC is having a partnership with the concerned contractor
