Early Times Report Srinagar, June 10: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday took a dig at the senior PDP minister for opposing Abhinav Gupta Yatra. In an apparent reference to a PDP Minister, who announced that Yatra won't be allowed, the BJP spokesman Khalid Jehangir in a statement here said, "People should stop opposing this yatra for appeasing a handful of separatists, who despite enjoying all the privileges, have developed a habit of making a mountain out of molehill to prove their loyalty towards their handlers sitting across the Line of Control (LoC). Mainstream politicians should refrain from toeing the line of separatists." Jehangir said, "Acharya Abhinav Gupt was a great synthesizer of different schools of thought. All Kashmiris should be proud of such a son of soil who was an extensive writer with an intellectual background." He said, "A few people with vested interests are hell bent upon opposing any move aimed at promoting communal harmony in Kashmir." He said, "The people who are opposing the Yatra need to dwell into the history. They would come to know that it was an annual pilgrimage and used to be held prior to 1947. This yatra would help the people of Beerwah and other adjoining areas in long run as it would give fillip to tourism sector in central Kashmir." Jehangir said. |
