Doda, June 10: Residents of Hambal and Dedni have alleged that the area has been ignored deliberately by the successive governments and district administrations in the Doda since 1994 to till date as the Hambal to Dedni Road is yet far from reality
Highlighting their plight locals also alleged that the village Dedni, of Marmat Block is suffering without road connectivity for the last many decades. Locals alleged that the hollow promises made by the previous government proved utter failure to full fill the promises and it seems that the project of Hambal - Dedni road will be distant dream.
Even the tall claims of union as well as state government that rural road connectivity is not only key component of rural development also had failed to bring respite to the rural masses of the area despite the introduction of mega project Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). Pertinent to mention that Hambal to Dedni road projects of Block Marmat was sanctioned by some 22 years ago but the road yet has not been completed.
Sources with Public Works Department (PWD) informed that in the year 1994 more than dozen road projects of Hambal to Dedni has been forwarded by state government to union government for approval. Out of which union government has sanctioned Hambal to Dedni road -6.18kms stretch project under scheme R&B but the executing agency yet had failed to get the project completed.
"The road still is far from reality though people saw a silver lining in MNERGA and though the issue will be resolved but the Dedni road start 4th time unfortunately still is incomplete till date.
Locals of the area alleged that officials at helms during previous of government got only few yards i.e. 300/400 meter road constructed resulting he burden on government exchequer.
"Inhabitants of village Dedni comprising of more than 600/700 souls is still deprived of various basioc amenities despite the village houses an ancient Durga Mandir and is also a unexplored picturesque tourist spot -a small mini valley which still sans better road connectivity to attract tourists. According to sources in 1994 MGNERGA Doda surveyed the Hambal road via Dedni and furnished the DPR (Detailed Project Report) but due to pathetic attitude of the department things fails to take new turn till date 2016. Locals have appealed Governor and Chief Minister of state to intervene and redress the long pending demands.
