5,211 pvt institutes in J&K, but no prescribed salary norms for staff | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, June 10: There are 5,211 private educational institutions functioning in Jammu and Kashmir, where government is yet to prescribe salary norms for teachers and other employees. In reply to a question by Surinder Kumar Choudhary, the Minister for Education said in the Legislative Council (LC) today that there were 5,211 private schools functioning in the state under the School Education Act 2002. At the time of granting affiliation to the schools, the salary norms were not prescribed, although the affiliation committee of Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) took note of the salary and emoluments of the staff and assured disbursement of salary through cheques. Minister said it is ensured by the affiliation committee that no school is granted affiliation unless the same fulfills all the requisite formalities which include a certificate from labour department as well. He also said the government has fixed criteria and set up norms of qualification and experience for appointing teaches for teaching various classes. The reply also said that appropriate action is taken whenever any school violates rules He said for regulating, monitoring and taking action on the complaints against the private schools, a monitoring wing has been set up at the directorate level in respect of both divisionsKashmir and Jammuof the state. The reply said that a committee has been constituted that takes necessary action to ensure reasonability of fee structure. |
