Early Times Report JAMMU, JUNE 10: Health and Medical Education department, J&K Government has given Dr. Syed Kaisar, Medical Superintendent, Govt.Dental College, Srinagar, additional charge of the Registrar, J&K State Dental Council (JKSDC), in addition to his duties, till the time JKSDC gets regular registrar. Sh. Shahid Mahmood, Deputy Secretary, H&ME department is appointed as returning officer for conducting the elections of JKSDC. Dr. Gautam Sharma, President, Indian Dental Association (IDA), has welcomed the move of government and thanked Sh. Bali Bhagat, Minister H&ME and Dr. M.K. Bhandari, Secretary to Govt, H&ME dept. on the appointment of registrar and returning officer of the JKSDC which IDA was demanding and had submitted a letter to minister demanding the same. Dentists of state were facing problem of registration after the Hon'ble High Court of Jammu and Kashmir had put the appointment of Registrar, JKSDC on hold. Dental Council is the body which regulates the dental profession in our country and without registration of dental council, a dental surgeon can not work on a patient. The new dentists who were coming to J&K after completing their BDS and MDS were facing problem of registration and were unable to start their private practice or get a government job. Dr. Bhupinder Singh, Secretary, IDA Jammu, said that the elections of JKSDC shall now be conducted at the earliest as the eloctoral rolls were already prepared and published sometime back. Now the newly appointed returing officer has to update these rolls and include the names of dental surgeons which are missing from this list. |
