Jammu, June 10: The additional sessions judge, Jammu, today rejected the bail application of a man for duping people of lakhs of rupees with fake job promise. Vikramjeet and three others had lodged a complaint against Arun Salaria, alleging therein that, impersonating himself as an employee of railways, he had assured that he could arrange jobs for them subject to the payment of Rs 3 lakh each. After they gave him Rs 3 lakh each, he took them to Kharagpur, Jharkhand, and kept them there for about three months. Then one day he disappeared from there, cheating them of their hard earned money. During the course of investigation, it became known that the accused, after taking money from them, had provided them appointment orders bearing Nos -- 1E/651/MC/COMML/P/1/S, P/L-ELS/1081 dated October 8, 2013, IE/672/MC/COMML/P/1/S, ELS/1072 dated October 8, 2013, DRM (IR) 147/D/IR/DEL/ NCR dated March 7, 2014 and DRM(IR) 135/D/IR/DEL/NCR dated March 7, 2014. On verification from railways, all these orders were found to be fake. Out of Rs 12 lakh paid by the complainants to the accused, Rs 1,35,000 wer credited in PNB account No 0517000100158052. The accused had withdrawn this amount through ATMs from different locations. Accordingly a formal case under sections 420, 465, 467, 468 and 471 of RPC was registered against him. The judge, after hearing both the sides, said the offence under section 467 of RPC was punishable with life imprisonment or imprisonment of 10 years and fine. Allegations against the accused were indeed very serious in nature. As investigation of the case was in progress, the accused was not entitled to the liberty of bail, he said. With these observations, the court rejected his bail application. (JNF) |
