Old BSNL Exchange Building turns 'boon' to anti social elements 6/10/2016 11:17:06 PM Ashwani Sharma Early times report Udhampur June 10: The abandoned old building of BSNL Exchange situated near Bartaya Vidya Mandir (BVM) School now has turned a boon to the anti social elements and also has become an ideal site for garbage dumping. The BSNL exchange was shifted from this building to new complex near Krishan Palace Dhar Road Udhampur some 15 years ago but since then none has looked back to this abandoned govt building which now has turned a ghostly place with wild growth and piles of garbage. Being unattended and isolated the building is becoming a haven for drug addicts and other anti social elements which often are seen visiting the building even at odd hours resulting inconvenience to the residents of area. Some locals epically women from the area (names withheld) and others namely Ashwani Pava ,Rajesh Gupta told Early Times that after the shifting of exchange from the here ,this place has turned haven for the some wrong doers as the place has turned ideal for garbage dumping, love birds and addicts but the BSNL authorities are least bothered. "Spread over approximate 15 kanals, this BSNL land being abandoned was now dotted with wild growth which also is giving ideal space to monkeys, rodents and dangerous reptiles like snakes which is creating a sense of insecurity among the locals residing in nearby areas. Locals lamented that despite repeated complains to BSNL authorities especially concerned TDM, nothing has been initiated in this regard. Residents of area said that they now have requested to DC Udhampur Neeraj Kumar to take up matter with concerning BSNL officers for due redressal. When contacted TDM Udhampur Manohar Lal briefly said that he has joined recently a week ago and doesn't have any knowledge of matter.
