New Challenger Club wins opening tie

AKHNOOR, June 12: New Challenger Club won the opening match of the 8th Pawan Memorial (Twenty20) Cricket Tournament, organised by Singh Cricket Club at Government Higher Secondary School ground, here today. Challenger made it a close three-run win against KC Sports Club (KCSC). Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, New Challenger set a target of 224 runs for five wickets. Ashu (76 off 35 balls) and Ram Dayal (76 off 42 balls) remained top scorers while Hardeep Singh made 23-ball 35 runs to the total and remained unbeaten. From KCSC, Abishant, Arjun Choudhary, Ishan and Vivek shared one wicket each. Batting second, KCSC could not maintain the required run rate and exhausted their quota of overs for 220 runs losing four wickets. Suryansh played brilliant unbeaten innings of 80 runs coming off just 33 deliveries while Abishant Bakshi made 41-ball 72 runs. Shubam Pundeer added 13-ball 17 runs.
Vijay Dogra was most successful bowler from Challenger with two wickets, followed by Ram Dayal and Pranav, who shared apiece each.
