Go slow: BJP to Kashmiri Pandits | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 12: The BJP central leadership has communicated to Kashmiri Pandit organistaion to go slow on their programs of yatra in the Kashmir. The leadership has communicated that while the government and the party stands for their safe return, but it doesn't to vitiate the atmosphere with hyper rhetoric on their 'return'. "We are committed to the return of the KPs. But their return is possible only in a peaceful atmosphere by taking majority community in the confidence. We can't force their return and attempts which are seen as forceful entry would have a strong repercussions and we don't want such a situation," said a senior BJP leader, wishing not to be named. According to the sources the central government is seriously monitoring the developments after the start of Abhinav Gupta yatra and its stopping by the police. The sources said some quarters in the government believe yatras are now being seen as an institutions of the RSS and while the state government can tackle their opposition but going hyper active over them could have strong reactions from the locals and this could affect the plan for the return of the Kashmiri Pandits. "There is already Kheer Bhawani yatra host of other yatras. Amarnath yatra is also starting. We are now worried if the Abhinav Gupta yatra could affect the coming Amarnath Yatra and this could be serious challenge to the BJP_PDP government if the matter of Abhinav yatra is pushed hard by the KPs and some elements from outside the state," said the official. The sources said the BJP government is likely to convene a meeting with the State government and also with the KP organization to discuss the matter and sort it out amicably as it too doesn't want it be blown out of proportions. |
