Early Times Report Poonch, June 12: Known for it's high literacy rate, Kalai, a tiny village located near the confluence of Mandi and Surankote streams of Poonch river, is once again in news for impressive performance by three of it's youngsters in another national level examination. Hilal Choudhary, Ch. Auqib Mujtaba and Usman Hafeez Choudhary all hailing from Kalai, a village of Tehsil Haveli in Poonch district, qualified the prestigious IIT JEE exam the results of which were declared by the JEE board today. Earlier this year two brothers, Irfan and Noonan had cracked the UPSC's IAS and IES exams respectively. The village has scores of civil servants, engineers and doctors besides eminent Poets, religious personalities and Writers. The village has also seen in recent years it's youngsters securing top positions in the board exams. Kalai has also demonstrated impressive gender equality in different fields. Afreen Kolhi and Saima Sadiq two female illumines of CHS Poonch had recently secured Ist and 2nd position at state level in the JKBOSE 10th class examination. Besides, six others had reached the top 20 positions in the JKBOSE exams in different sessions. |
