Zulfkar launches 24x7 helpline for grievance redressal in CAPD Deptt

JAMMU, June 12 : The citizens of Jammu can now get faster redressal of their complaints related to services being provided by the Department of Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution, with the launch of round-the-clock consumer helpline at Directorate of CAPD, Jammu by Minister for CAPD Zulfkar Ali.
The consumers can now register their complaints and queries through landline phone on toll free number - 1800-180-7011 and through mobile phones on 1967. The consumers can also reach the CAPD office through e-mail- [email protected].
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister informed that the Consumer cum IT Cell will work at four levels. The complaint from the cell will be first transferred to the concerned Assistant Director of the department and if the issue is not redressed at his level in 7 days, it will directly get transferred to the Director, CAPD department. If the complaint remains pending with the department for more than 14 days, it will directly reach the Secretary to Government, CAPD department and after this, the complaint will reach the Minister for necessary action.
"All complaints in connection with price rise, distribution of ration cards, maintenance of scale, pilferage, sub-standard ration, delay in distribution and related issues can be registered on this helpline and the concerned officers will resolve it as soon as possible," the Minister added.
The Minister further informed that the department has appointed Deputy Director, Planning & Statistics Mohammad Iqbal Zargar as the nodal officer for the complaint cell.
The Minister also inspected the Office of Directorate of CAPD and asked the Director to install proper notice boards displaying allocation, price and various schemes of the department.
Later, the Minister also inspected Secondary Standards Laboratory and Working Standards Laboratory at the office of Legal Metrology Department (LMD) in Transport Nagar, Jammu.
Taking stock of working of the laboratories, the Minister asked the inspectors of the department to properly display the instruments in the laboratories besides conducting regular checks at the fair price shops, petrol pumps and other establishments. He also directed them to make optimum use of men and machinery for ensuring that the people of the state don't get adulterated material.
Meanwhile, the Minister was also felicitated by the employees of the department for being awarded as the best Legislator for the year-2012.
Director, CAPD GS Chib, Joint Director, CA&PD Mansoor Aslam, Deputy Director, CAPD K Syed Khan, Deputy Controller, LMD MA Mughal among inspectors of LMD were present on the occasion.
