KPS condemns attack on pilgrims, demands security | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 12: An emergency meeting of the KPS executive held after performing Holy Jyesth Ashtami Pooja in the temple premises at Ambphalla. The members were highly infuriated by the conduct of the separatist supporters who showed absolute intolerance towards minorities especially Kashmiri Pandits by attacking the vehicles of the Kheer Bhawani Yatries at Khanabal and Ganderbal. According to press release, those who were blaming Jagmohan for the exodus stood thoroughly exposed. The ethnic cleansing agenda of Pak sponsored militants and their over ground supporters is fully visible and the Sabha condemns it vehemently. It also stated that mainstream political parties should come forward and condemn this highly cowardly act and appealed the Govt. and the security forces to provide full protection to the lives of the yatries and come down heavily on the perpetrators of violence against them. In view of the plans of the Govt. to work out a return formula for the return and rehabilitation of the Pandits, those who were in charge of providing security to the Yatries should have been more alert and vigilant. The members were also highly critical of the statement given in the press conference held by some Pandits against setting up of concentrated settlements for the displaced community. This also appeared to be a part of a larger game plan of the separatists to oppose the return of Pandits by using the vulnerable minority community members living in the valley who have no option but to toe the line of the separatists when ordered to do so. The members however appreciated the firm stand taken by the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to establish settlements for the return of the Pandits and also in condemning the attacks on the Yatries. The Sabha expressed full confidence in the Govt. of India as well as the state Govt. that they will take adequate measures to control the ugly situation and not allow the forces of destabilisation to have a free run. |
