Jammu, June 12: Gangyal police today claimed to have arrested a youth and recovered 5 grams of heroin from his possession while his associate managed to escape from the spot.
A police spokesman said that in continuation to the drive against the drug menace under operation 'Sanjeevini', Satwari police laid a special naka near MBS College at Babliana at about 1.15 pm and intercepted a motorcycle which was without registration number.
The motorcyclist sped away. After a brief chase, the police party headed by SI Pardeep Singh succeeded in apprehending the pilon rider who disclosed his identity as Rakesh Kumar, son of Puran Chand of Phallain Mandal. Five gms heroin was recovered from his possession.
Motorcyclist Sunny Kumar, son of Makhan Lal of Indira Nagar, Miran Sahib, managed to escaped, the spokesman added.
In this regard a case under FIR NO 109/16 under section 8/21/22 of NDPS Act was registered and investigation started. |
