Akshay Azad Jammu, June 19: Though the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has published the list of shortlisted candidates for the posts of Assistant Professors' in Political Science subject but the students of International Studies, who found no place in the list, have reportedly approached the Commission to allow them for the posts. Miffed over the development, the aspirants of Political Science have also approached the JKPSC and have appealed for not allowing them as for the posts of International Politics the students of Political Science are not allowed anywhere and if they would be allowed candidates of other subjects would also approach for inclusion. According to the representation given to JKPSC, the candidates of Political Science have maintained that as per the notification Political Science was the basic criteria as per the notification No. 12-PSC(DR-P) of 2014 dated on 29-5-2014. "If PSC will allow International Studies for interviews then all other odd subjects like Public Administration, West Asian Studies, Peace and Conflict Studies, South Asian Studies and others will also claim to be included and treated at par with Political Science", they said, adding that National Eligibility Test (NET) was also conducted in these subjects separately. They further said that the short listing in all other subjects were done specifically based only on Post Graduation and NET in their respective subject. "Like In Zoology- Fisheries was not included, in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics students were not included, in Commerce, the students of E-commerce and Business Administration were not included, in English- Functional English was not included, they claimed, adding that it was only the Political Science, candidates belonging to other subjects were also included in short listing, which was against the rules and statues of PSC. Secretary of JKPSC, Shakeel-Ur-Rehman admitted that students of International Studies subject had approached them for inclusion, but the case was forwarded to Higher Education department as the posts were of Higher Education department. He further said that JKPSC could not take any decision over inclusion or exclusion of any candidate and if Higher Education department would direct them to include these candidates, a decision in this regard might be taken. |
