Govt fails to allocate separate budget for SSH | Vital up gradation works in hospital put at halt | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 18: Continuing step motherly treatment towards the Jammu region, the health sector in region has been neglected with the fact that after completion of three years, the state government failed to allocate a separate budget for the Super Specialty Hospital (SSH) Jammu. Strange it may sound but true that the state government is insensitive about the health department in general and health of the citizens of Jammu in particular and the same can be gauged from Sources said that the state government has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the state government under which the then centre government has allocated Rs 100 crore for the construction of the SSH Jammu while Rs 20 crore was allocated for the annual maintenance of the hospital which would borne by the state government. "Yet no rules have been set for the recruitment of faculty owing which only 15 resident surgeons remained in the hospital despite there are 70 posts of residents", said a source adding that the paramedical staff was too recruited only once and the same is being depleted after there are being diverted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H). "There is no emergency block in the hospital as so many surgeries are being conducted in the hospital per day even the blood bank is not operational there while now new machinery was purchased in last three years and on the name of maintenance of already installed machinery there was nothing done", further alleged sources. Sources further said that the expectations of the jammuities to have good health facilities have fallen flat and if situation remains same, the time is not far when the prestigious hospital would turned into a primary health center as the hospital inaugurated by the then Union Health Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad fails to get separate budget owing to surrender policies of the BJP government. Sources further claimed that the hospital turned into a political battle field and the political stoops are molding the functioning of the hospital as per their own will. |
