Delhi-bound train catches fire at Kathua | | | Early Times Report
kathua, June 19: Nearly 150 passengers of the Delhi bound Anand Vihar Special had a narrow escape when one of its bogey suddenly caught fire near Hiranagar railway station in Kathua district on Sunday evening. However, all the passengers are safe, said Divisional Traffic Manager R K Singh. The major tragedy got averted as station master at Hiranagar railway station stopped the train following a message from railway officials at previous station who noticed smoke emanating from bogey No. D-5. The train had to halt at Kathua for a while. The train was stopped at Hiranagar around 6 pm and all the passengers came out of the bogey safely, sources said, adding that they were adjusted in other bogies. The burnt bogey was detached from other bogies and train left for Delhi at 7 pm.Electric short circuit was suspected to be the cause of fire. However, an inquiry has been ordered into the incident. |
