UDHAMPUR, June 19: The historic Sudhmahadev mela in tehsil Chenani commenced today with great zeal and enthusiasm. Thousands of devotees from within and outside the state visited the holy Sudhmahadev temple to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva during the first day of the Mela. Member Legislative Assembly Chenani, Dina Nath Bhagat inaugurated the Mela. Additional Deputy Commissioner Angrez Singh Rana, PO DRDA Dr Jagdish Mehra, SDM Chenani D K Sharma, concerned senior officers and prominent citizens were present on the occasion. While extending his best wishes to the people on this occasion, the MLA informed that concrete steps would be taken for encouraging pilgrim tourism in the area. He further told that the work of road from Mantalai to Benisangam would be started soon. The MLA directed the PDA authorities to prepare DPR of Pilgrim Lounge at Sudhmahadev and assured that he would extend financial assistance out of CDF wherever necessary under convergence mode. He also informed that the road from Chenani to Sudhmahadev has been handed over to National Highway Construction Agency for its proper repair and maintenance and said that the Paapnashini Bowli would soon be developed on modern lines for the convenience of pilgrims. The District Administration had made elaborate arrangements including uninterrupted power supply, provision of safe drinking water, sanitation, medical facilities, setting up of control room and security arrangements for the smooth celebration of the Mela. On the occasion, various stalls have been set up by Agriculture Health, Apiculture, Handicraft, Handloom, Education, Tourism, Rural Development Department, J&K Bank and Animal Husbandry departments to educate the masses about the various state and centrally sponsored schemes and for the socioeconomic upliftment of the people. |
