ACD's raid, chemist escape | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, June 19: Aware of Assistant Controller Drug's raid a chemist managed to escaped on Sunday. Uncountable medical shops in entire district Kathua run unabated without deserving persons from last few years. Numbers of licenses were issued to ineligible persons in Kathua including mountainous areas Basholi Billawar and Bani areas while ignoring the life risk of people. One such case has been highlighted by Jaswant Singh resident of Amla, tehsil Marheen wherein he pointed out that a Sharma Medical hall, Amala tehsil Marheen is being run by one Rohit Sharma who has neither a professional degree nor did any medical course to run a medical shop. Singh alleged that the medical shop sold medicines unabated and treated people at the life risk of patients. He filed a RTI in the office of Assistant controller Drugs Kathua/ Samba. Assistant Controller Drug took the matter serious a raid on the shop twice a time but information about their visit reached before the raid and the shop found close in both the time. When the matter was again highlighted before ACD Kathua Samba, the officer paid surprise visit and found that one Rohit Sharma ran the shop and sold medicines unabated. ACD took action against him and licenses of the firm were suspended for one month for violation of conditions under D&C Act 1940 and rules there under. While talking to media, Jaswant Singh demanded permanent suspension of Licenses and added that there are number of such shops in entire district Kathua which are run with the duly back of Drug Control department. He appealed Health Minister to set up a committee for the verification of such shops and firm holders who openly play with the lives of innocent and poor public of the localities. |
