| Filthy potable water supply, defunct hand pump triggers resentment in Marheen | | |  Early Times Report
Kathua, June 19:A large number of people today came on road and staged protest demonstration against Public Health Engineering Department.
They shouted slogans as 'PHE down down- District Administration down down as they alleged that they have not been getting pure drinking water due to damaged water supply pipes for last few months.
While addressing protesters including minors, Shiv Dev Singh said dirty water is being supplied to people due to damaged PHE water supply pipes in throughout the area. Few of the pipes passing through dirty drains, due to leakage in pipes, dirty water enters in the drinking water supply and people have to receive that water resulting water borne disease among people especially minors.
Balwan Singh informed that the matter of damaged pipes has been raised among concerned authority but no action has been initiated to restore pure water supply and repair of pipes. He informed that people were depend upon water hand pump but that too got defunct due to leakage and damaged pipes resulting shortage of drinking water supply in entire area.
The protesters demanded that District administration should come ahead and wakes up PHE department from deep slumber. They demanded repair of water pipes and restoration of pure drinking water supply in their houses. |
