People get electricity bills against non-existant power connections | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, June 19 Some inhabitants of Panja and its adjoining areas in Kalakot have alleged that PDD had sent them electricity bills against non-existant power connections. Agitated over the PDD's alleged act of repeatedly sending them bills against the non-existant power connections, people held a protest and also approached the SDM for his intervention in the matter. Ishaq Mohd, Makhan Din and others resident of Panja alleged that neither the department had installed electric poles in the village nor it had any planning to provide them electricity. "Despite that we are getting electricity bills separately on the names of our family members. Many houses in our village have been provided electricity but the wires are tied to trees and many domestic animals have so far died due to electric current," alleged Makhan Din. Abdul Rehman alleged that recently he had received electricity bill worth Rs 25000 despite the fact that he had no electricity connection on his name. As per reports, SDM, Kalakote, has assured the villagers to sort out their problem by taking the matter with the senior PDD officers and if any employee was found involved, action under law would be taken against him. |
