Roundtable conference against compromise with Pak, separatists: JFI | | | Early Times Report jammu , June 19: Jammu for India on Sunday organized round table conference (RTC) at Press Club Jammu. The theme of the conference was "Challenges before Jammu". Prof Hari Om, Convener of Jammu for India (JFI) made the opening remarks and highlighted the circumstances under which JFI was launched on April 22, 2016. Former Director General of Police (DG) MM Khajuriya concluded the over 2-hour-long proceedings and urged the nationalists to get united for a full-fledged save Jammu, save India movement.Speaker after speaker expressed grave concern over the fast deteriorating situation in the state and expressed the view that anti-national and communal forces, backed to the hilt by Pakistan, have been working overtime to create Kashmir-like situation in Jammu. There was consensus that the policies of the Indian political class vis-à-vis Kashmir were not in the best interest of the nation and the very vast nationalist constituency in the state, especially Jammu province, which houses more than 50 lakh nationalists. Their fundamental refrain was that the policy of the Indian political class vis-à-vis Kashmir was not just fatal for the interests of the nationalists in Jammu and Kashmir but also harmful for the paramount national interests and that if the Indian political class continued to pursue the same old Kashmir policy, the results would be disastrous and Jammu will get further weakened, which will further jeopardize the vital interests of the nation in Jammu and Kashmir. There was unanimity among all the participants that Jammu province is the most strategic region in the state and its identity and personality must be protected and further promoted by recognizing it as the nation's backbone in the state. "Jammu province will not accept any solution that doesn't integrate the state fully into India and empower Jammu region politically, constitutionally and financially so that it could defeat the subversives, communalists and Pakistan's evil designs" was the upshot of the interventions of all the participants. There was also consensus that the existing policy of the Indian political class is based on the policy of retreat from Kashmir and it was the fundamental duty of the nationalists in the state, especially Jammu province that also houses over 15 lakh refugees from POJK, Pakistan and Kashmir, to further intensify pro-India campaign in the state. "We have not given the power of attorney to anyone in New Delhi to decide the fate of the state. Jammu and Kashmir is a settled issue. Pakistan and Hurriyat leaders are not the stakeholders in Jammu and Kashmir. The only issue that remains unresolved between India and Pakistan is the determination of the political future of the so-called Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan region, which are legitimately Indian, and which have been under the illegal occupation of Pakistan since 1947. Separation of Jammu and Kashmir from India will lead to the disintegration of India and negate the supreme sacrifices that the nation made in the state during all these years of its lawful accession with India. We are vehemently opposed to demands like autonomy, self-rule, Musharraf formula, Dixon Plan, Kathwari Plan, as all these solutions are fundamentally communal and divisive," the participants in the RTC in one voice said. The RTC resolved to educate the public opinion about the negative impact of the policies of Indian political class and urged the people to get united without losing a moment, saying that if Jammu remained dormant or devoid of any political activity, the results would be disastrous. They also urged the Indian political class to undo the past wrongs by adopting a holistic policy that not only advances the national interests in the state but also give Jammu province the status it rightfully deserved in the Indian polity as its part and parcel. JFI founder members including Dheeraj Pargal, organising secretary, Dr Ajay Chrungoo, YR Gupta, Devinder Choudhary, Dr Agnishekhar, Ajaat Shatru Singh, Ashok Kumar, Rajesh Dutta and advocate Pushpinder Singh and prominent among others who took part and spoke in the RTC included PP Sharma, former Principal Chief Conservator of Forests; Col JP Singh; Col Karan Singh; Advocates Ravinder Sharma, Anil Sethi and Vilakshan Singh; prominent civil society members such as Raj Badyal from Kishtwar, Retd executive engineer DK Sharma" Sunita Sharma; V.C.
