Early Times Report

JAMMU, Aug 1: The BJP's soft stand on terrorism and separatists in Kashmir has not only come to sharp criticism from the opposition parties in the State and country but also within Sangh Parivar and allies of BJP.
According to sources the various sister organizations of Sangh Parivar are not happy with the tackling of situation by the coalition government in the State to which BJP is a partner and they have taken serious exception to the repeated statements of some BJP leaders trying to toe the line of the Party's coalition partner PDP so far as the question of tackling terrorism in the strife torn State is concerned.
Sources said the BJP is already facing its criticism for joining hands with PDP whose leadership is considered to have a proximity with separatists as well as Hurriyat leadership and the opponents of the Party accuse it that by joining hands with the PDP, the BJP has compromised on its principles. The soft stand of BJP on separatists and initiation of some pro-separatist policies in the State including decision to lift army from Tatoo ground Srinagar a strategic point to counter insurgency and terrorism in the Summer Capital, removal of army from Anantnag and other parts of Valley besides the feelings given by the party leadership that revoking of AFSPA from some parts of the State can also be looked into has given enough opportunity to the opposition parties to train its guns on BJP.
Sources said one of the outcome of present unrest in Kashmir can be joining of hands by PDP and BJP who fought the assembly elections of 2014 against each other. While PDP in Kashmir asked people to defeat BJP so that the Party should not come to power in the State as it will be harmful to interests of Kashmiris BJP on the other hand also launched a tirade during assembly elections against PDP in Jammu region asked people to reject both father daughter and father son parties.
However joining of hands by the two parties for government formation has been viewed seriously by the people of the two regions, sources said, adding that the people who gave maximum seats to PDP in Kashmir and BJP in Jammu were not ready to reconcile with the facts that formation of government by the two parties which were poles apart was a political compulsion for them as State can't be kept under Governor's or president's rule for longer period.
Sources said even the people were not ready to accept that formation of a political government duly elected by people was in the best interests of the masses of the State as there can be direct contact of the people with their elected representatives so far as settlement of various problems confronting them are concerned which is not possible otherwise in a non democratically elected government run by bureaucrats.
However failure of the BJP led government at Centre as well as in the State to draw a concrete and result oriented blue print regarding tackling of separatists and subversive elements is viewed as a big failure on the part of the Party so far as Kashmir situation is concerned. The opposition has taken the bull by horns by making a scathing attack on BJP so far as its Kashmir policy is concerned. The increasing subversive activities in Kashmir and giving a long rope to Hizbul Commander Burhan Wani for long two years has been one of the greatest failures on the part of the Government. During this period Burhan got a lot of publicity on social media as well as on various TV channels in India and abroad which made him a hero of Kashmiris, sources said.
This is also viewed as one of the biggest failures of the government at the helm of affairs which failed to act against the terrorist when he was in a process of re-grouping the Hizb in Kashmir Valley. Had the terrorist been arrested during the initial days and his camps smashed in the jungles of Tral the security forces and the police in the State would have not suffered so many casualties which they suffered later through the hands of dreaded Hizbul Mujahideen in Valley.
Moreover the Sangh Parivar organizations feel dejected with the role of BJP ministers also as there is total public resentment against the oft repeated statements made by some party ministers and leaders toeing the line of PDP leadership totally so far as action against the terrorism is concerned.
Sources said some of the sister organizations of Sangh including VHP and Bajrang Dal have openly conveyed their displeasure to RSS as well as BJP top leadership not in J&K but New Delhi also and have urged it to take a tough stand against the terrorists and separatists.
Even the Shiv Sena which is an important ally of BJP at national level has openly criticized the Party for its pro separatist stance.
