No yatri from Pahalgam, about 200 pilgrims leave from Baltal for cave shrine | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Aug 1: There was no yatri from Pahalgam today while about 200 pilgrims left Baltal base camp for Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas, where so far 2.14 lakh pilgrims had paid obeisance since the commencement of the 48-day-long pilgrimage from July 2. The weather was pleasant and pilgrimage was progressing smoothly, official sources said. They said since there was some law and order problem in Anantnag, pilgrims from Jammu were taken to Baltal base camp while others stayed at Qazigund camp. No yatri could arrive at Nunwan Pahalgam base camp for security reasons as authorities donot want to take any chance since the vehicles carrying pilgrims had to pass Anantnag, they said adding therefore there was no yatri from this route today. However, pilgrims who had night halt at Chandwari, the last motorable halting station on the traditional yatra route left for cave early this morning. Similarly other pilgrims who had night halt at different halting station are also moving towards the cave shrine today. Meanwhile, pilgrims having night halt at Panjtarni arrived at cave shrine today to pay obeisance. Sources said about 200 pilgrims, including women and sadhus left Baltal base camp early this morning for the cave shrine. The pilgrims are likely to reach the cave shrine later this afternoon after covering the hilly terrain on foot. Meanwhile, pilgrims who had darshan at the cave shrine yesterday and satayed there have also started their return journey for Baltal base camp early this morning. |
