JAMMU, Aug 1: Alleging illegal encroachments by JDA and inaction on part of district administration to tighten the noose on land grabbers, who forcibly grab private land in violation of court's order, the people of Butta Nagar, Paloura has appealed the civil society and likeminded people to come forward to help poor as well as deprived sections of society.
In protest against the alleged land grabbing, scores of protesters staged a protest demonstration outside Janipur Police station.
Speaking on the occasion, Shamsher Kumar, one of the victims, said that present BJP government is making things tough for poor and deprived sections.
"From Gujarat to Jammu and Kashmir BJP government making things tougher for dalits," he said, adding, "Our forefathers owns the entire area and colony's name Butta Nagar is on the name of our great grandfather Butta Ram but with a conspiracy to kill the voice of dalits, BJP government is trying to forcibly capturing our land."
"Some influential land grabbers, initially dubs as JDA people, forcibly encroached our land; we are running from pillar to post and met with Divisional Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Senior Superintendent of Police Jammu, they heard us but so far no action was taken against the land grabbers," he said.
He claimed that piece of land is registered as 'malkiat' with all duly certified revenue records on names of locals and court also granted stay orders to stop construction at the site but administration under the influence of some BJP ministers is overlooking it.
"The court grants stay on the land but SHO Janipur sides with goons and refused to implement the stay order and even threaten and lathicharge the locals owners," he said, adding, "Entire administration only doing lip service and passing buck to each other."
"With stay order we went to Divisional Commissioner, who asked us to contact DC and SSP, we went there also and they asked us to met with SDM and SDPO.We pleaded before them and they asked us to meet Tehsildar and SHO. Tehsildar further asked us to contact Naib Tehsildar but on other hand the landgrabber did not stop construction and raised boundary wall with big gates," he said.
He further added, "We are poor people, mostly labour class, schedule cast and by all our means we are still fighting this suit in court but after failing to support its argument in the court, JDA now forcibly trying to grab the land by sending goons and using muscle power."
