Distt Hospital fails to give succor to ailing people: Congress | | | Early Times Report
Kishtwar Aug 1: Alleging that District Hospital Kishtwar has failed to giver succor to ailing people, Kishtwar Congress today asked management and staff of the District Hospital Kishtwar to perform their duties in a noble way failing which party will not remain a mute spectator. Congress leadership stated that it cannot turn the blind eye towards the poor functioning of District Hospital Kishtwar where hundreds of poor people from not only Kishtwar District, but Doda District and adjoining areas of Himachal Pradesh state also visited for the treatment. As per the details available with "Early Times", Congress leaders from Sewa Dal Congress, Youth Congress, Sarpanches, Panches have hailed the decision of registration of an FIR against hospital management who forced the poor patients to purchased the medicine from local markets. As reported by " Early Times "on July 29, , MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori visited District Hospital Kishtwar to enquire about the health of some patients admitted in hospital wherein Saroori found some patient from Below Poverty Line (BPL) were forced to purchase the basic medicines including syringes from the retail market, despite the fact that same shall be made available in the Hospital stores. Taking strong notice of the case, MLA Inderwal not only questioned why the hospital authorities were forcing the poor patients to purchase the medicine from the local markets but demanded matter needed to be probed by high level committee to be headed by sitting High Court Judge. "It is surprising that the paramedical staff and doctors of District Hospital Kishtwar had held protest at Kishtwar demanding to register a FIR against one Mohammad Iqbal whose crime is only that he dared to speak why poor patients are being forced to purchase medicines from market" said Ex-Sarpanch Mohammad Iqbal Keen. He added that this act of hospital management was just to divert the attention of common masses in order to hide their misdeeds and highhandedness going on unchecked in hospital. Locals denied that there was no incident of slapping or manhandling of any hospital staff though they tried to provoke some people, but due to presence of MLA Inderwal; he preferred to take legal course of action by seeking help of police to register the FIR. Another local Ravi Kumar said that several doctor are having hands in gloves with some pharmaceutical companies just in lieu of some vested interests. He said that counter FIR register by the hospital management has no realty and demanded speeding up of investigation on fast track bases. Congress leaders urged upon the Health Minister Bali Bhagat to take stern action against erring doctors and also against those who prescribed sub standard medicines, beside also forced the patients to purchase medicines and do clinical tests and X-Ray from particular shop where they are practicing.
