KVK, Reasi organizes farmers training programme on entrepreneurship development | | | ET Report REASI, Aug 1: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) organized day long training programme on entrepreneurship development in agriculture at village Painthal of Reasi district. Large number of farmers participated in the programme. Dr Banarsi Lal, Incharge (Head) KVK, Reasi initiated the programme with the warm welcome of the farmers. He gave detailed account of agri-entrepreneurship. He made aware the farmers that now the time has come thatfarmers should divert themselves from the subsistence agriculture to commercial agriculture. Dr Banarsi Lal, scientist gave the description of principles of agri-entrepreneurship. He said that farmers should take the opportunities to become the agri-entrepreneurs and by doing so they can increase their income and also create employment for the others. He informed the farmers that they can grow the cereals, pulses, oilseeds, marigold, mushroom, beekeeping, aromatic and medicinal plants etc. at commercial level. Dr Banarsi gave technical details of floriculture specially marigold cultivation, medicinal and aromatic plants, beekeeping, dairy farming, food processing, vegetable and fruit processing etc. He emphasized on the cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants like lemongrass, vetiver, palmarosa etc. as the area is infested with the monkey menace and these medicinal plants are not affected by the monkeys. He further narrated that the cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants can help them to generate extra income and employment. In this training programme many queries were raised by the farmers which KVK scientists answered in a very satisfactorily way. KVK scientists also distributed seeds of aromatic and medicinal crop (Palmarosa) to the farmers. |
