Riled over vacant posts in schools, locals submit memorandum to SDM | | | Early Times Report Rajouri, Sept 9: Students in many government schools in Rajouri district especially in remote areas are worried about their future in the absence of required subject stream and required faculty. Agitated locals submitted a memorandum to Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Nowshera in this regard and demanded immediate filling of vacant posts. According to sources in education department, the senior officials of the department including Director School Education and Chief Education Officer (CEO) have claimed to have provided subject teachers at every school during transfers of the teachers in the month of August but till date the things are disarrayed. Students and residents of Lam in Nowshera tehsil have criticized the education department for midsession transfers of the subject teachers and alleged after these transfers' three posts of subject teachers are lying vacant in High School Lam. "Had the department decided to transfer the teachers the senior officials including Chief Education Officer should have also proposed to replace the teachers but there is no teacher in Urdu and Mathematics, lamented Nanak Chand ,chairman village legal committee further adding, "after recent transfers the studies of students are affected as the half of the academic session is over.". Like Nanak Chand, other prominent member of the village former sarpanch Ishar Singh, Sita Ram,Namberdar and others jointly presented a memorandum to Harbans Lal , Sub Divisional Megistrate and demanded immediate filling of vacant posts. The delegation also warned protest demonstration if their demand is not fulfilled within a week time. Similarly Kartar Singh and others resident of Sunderbani tehsil said that said that many high and higher secondary schools in their area still facing shortage of subject teachers. "State government making hollow promises with the people of the State for providing better facilities and well qualified teachers in the government schools but the ground reality is different from the claims thus forcing people to opt for private institutions when government schools lack in every sphere of facilities including teachers" said Vijay Kumar. Mr Kumar said 12 posts of subject teachers are lying vacant in Higher Secondary Schools at Sunderbani, Bajabain and Devak. Meanwhile inhabitants of Panhar village in Kalakot tehsil also held a meeting in which they have appealed to the higher authorities to provide subject teachers , especially in Hindi and Urdu subjects, at Primary School Pandar and Middle School Panhar. Subhash Chander, Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) has assured to provide teachers in every school at the earliest as the matter of shortage of teachers under this zone have already been taken up with the CEO Rajouri. |
