Tara Chand offers to quit Azad camp, urges Mir to own him fully | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 9: Frustrated over the clear refusal of dissidents and Azad loyalist to accept his leadership, the former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand is learnt to have offered complete surrender before PCC president G A Mir if the later owns him fully. The offer was made by Tara Chand during his one to one meeting with G A Mir at Srinagar three days back when the later appreciated him for not adhering to the unanimous decision of all dissident to avoid the incumbent PCC president till their demand of adjustments in the organization is conceded. According to the sources, Tara Chand complained to Mir that despite his all support, the later did not trust his capabilities and had been preferring his bête noire Sham Lal over him. Sources quoted Tara Chand telling Mir that he was not getting equal response in return of his faithfulness to the PCC president, who had nominated Sham Lal Sharma as senior vice-president and number two in the State Congress. "Because of you (Mir), I have been sidelined by Azad Sahib and his entire group in Jammu Kashmir who don't' trust me but on the other hand, your preference for Sham Lal leaves me nowhere to go," said by Tara Chand, as per the sources. Even as G A Mir sought to explain Tara Chand that he trusted him fully, sources said that the later asked the PCC president to opt either of two ( Tara Chand or Sham Lal) since he could not afford to remain as an unwanted element in the mainstream as well as in the dissident camps. During the more than two hour long meeting, sources said that main thrust of Tara Chand was to convenience that he was loyal to the PCC president and if given an assurance of due respect and preference over Sham Lal Sharma, he would join the mainstream camp even at the cost of annoying Ghulam Nabi Azad. |
