| Stung by their egos, BJP leaders play hide and seek at martyr's function | | |

Jammu, Sept 9: Internal bickering within the leaders of the "disciplined" BJP came to the fore during a function which was held today to observe martyr day of Major Akash Singh Sambyal at Rajpura here today. Shamefully, the 'nationalist' leaders of BJP failed to shun their ego even on such a solemn function that was by locals and family members of the martry with the support of Team Jammu-a non political social group.
The Shardhanjali function was scheduled for 10 am and Member Parliament and senior BJP leader, Shamsher Singh Manhas was chief guest. Local BJP MLA and incumbent state president of BJP, Sat Sharma was very much aware of the function. But instead of attending the main function, he along with some of his supporters reached the site at 9.45 am. Without waiting for the main function, Sharma along with his supporters paid floral tributes to the martyr and left the site before arrival of his own party colleague, who is also MP of the party.
Locals expressed surprise over such attitude of the BJP leaders who failed to shun their egos. Locals further maintained that the function should be jointly organized by all political parties of Jammu region but it is really unfortunate that politicians could not overcome their false egos even before the martyr.
They said that instead of separately paying tributes to the martyr, BJP leaders should jointly participate to the event to make it more impressive. Meanwhile, hundreds of people including over 700 students attended the main function along with the family members of the martyr. |
