Wife of Geelani's aide meets APD | People corner Hurriyat for its double speak | | Early Times Report srinagar, Sept 9: Wife of one of the close aides of Syed Ali Geelani has put the Hurriyat hawk in a tight spot as she met the All Party Delegation of the MPs that visited the Valley on September 4-5. The doors at Geelani's Hyderpora residence didn't open for the APD members as the Huriyat had decided not to meet the MPs. The Hurriyat led by the 87-year-old separatist also warned transporters, hotel owners and other businessmen not to meet with the delegation. However, what shook the ground beneath Geelani and his conglomerate was the meeting of his trusted aide's wife with the union home minister Rajnath Singh-led APD. The leader, whose wife has dared the Hurriyat, was earlier associated with the Mirwaiz-led Hurriyat. He later parted ways from the 'moderate' Hurriyat and joined the Geelani-led faction of the separatist body. The meeting of the Hurriyat leader's wife with the APD has not gone down well within the ranks of the separatist organisation. The lady issued a press note in which she declared that she had a detailed meeting with Rajnath Singh. In the handout it was maintained that she along with other members of her civil society organisation held a detailed meet with the APD and appraised them about the steps that are needed to be taken at an earliest to pacify the situation on ground that has been simmering since July 8. After Hizb Commander Burhan Wani's killing, 75 people including two cops have been killed while around estimated 10 thousand people have been injured during the clashes. The appeals of calm coming from the state and the central governments have so far fallen to deaf ears. The separatists have so far exhibited tough stance against the dispensation. Meanwhile, as Hurriyat has been displaying a united face, the meeting of the lady has caused lot of stir within the camp. What added to fuel to fire was the status update of one of the columnists here. He openly named the lady on social networking site, divulging that she has submitted her CV before the home ministry so that she could be considered for the post of Governor's advisor in case President's rule is imposed in Jammu and Kashmir. People here at large too expressed their disgruntlement over the two faces that the separatists have been showing to the people during the present times of turbulence. "On one side they want people to suffer and on the other side they send their wives to meet the APD. What kind of dual nature is this? Haven't they learnt any lesson from the blunders that they have committed in the past," says Aamir Kirwami, a social activist based in Valley. Meanwhile, there are high chances that Geelani would rake up the issue and will try to clear the air in the press conference that he is addressing on Friday. |
