Put Geelani, others behind the bars for setting Kashmir on fire: Harsh | NPP protests non initiation of action against separatists, anti nationals | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 9: Dubbing the outcome of APD's visit to the State as 'damp squib' and non initiation of punitive measures against the secessionists, anti nationals and saboteurs responsible for Kashmir turmoil, a strong contingent of Panther activists spearheaded by Harsh Dev Singh Chairman JKNPP, and Yash Paul Kundal President Young Panthers staged a vociferous protest demonstration at Exhibition Ground Jammu on Friday. The protesters torched the effigy of secessionism seeking stern action against separatists and saboteurs. Concerned over APD's visit to J&K on Sept 4th and 5th failing to make any breakthrough, Harsh Dev Singh said that the nationalistic people of the state had pinned high hopes from the visit of the creamy layer of central delegation that it would take serious note of the ongoing unrest in Kashmir to resolve the issue. He said that Panthers party always favoured dialogue with the 'genuine' stakeholders in the State but opposed the Government's policy of appeasement towards the secessionists, anti nationals and saboteurs operating in the valley. He reiterated that the unholy alliance between the BJP and PDP had been a major cause of the unrest in Kashmir as the people of both the regions were feeling cheated and betrayed. Singh divulged that in the wake of stubborn refusal of Hurriyat leaders to meet some MP's of the APD who had literally knocked at their doors, speculations were rife that Central Government may act tough with the separatists by withdrawing their facilities, scrutinizing their bank accounts and initiating legal action against them. He said that nothing of that sort had happened so far. Revealing glaring statistics on the money spent by the State government on appeasement of the Separatists at the cost of public exchequer, Singh disclosed that as per the data, in the last five years since 2010-11 the total expenditure incurred on protecting them was over Rs. 506 crores which included Rs. 309 crores spent on the salary of their residential guards, Rs. 150 crores spent on the salary of their PSOs, Rs. 21 crores spent on their luxury including hotel bills and Rs.26 crores on fuel plus other travelling expenses. He said that instead of pampering the anti nationals who spewed venom against the nation and incited sedition, this tax payers money could have been spent on the welfare of the people, education and salaries of the underemployed youth. He further disclosed that Separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani was facing serious charges as 28 FIRs were lodged against him for the past several decades but only two charge sheets had been presented in the court of law so far. He said that the offences committed by Geelani were non- bailable and as such he should be arrested and put behind the bars without any delay for setting Kashmir on fire. Singh exhorted the Central government to withdraw amenities given to all the separatists, freeze their bank accounts and initiate stern action against them in conformity with the law of the land. He said that prison would be the right place for them to take care of their hospitality including boarding, lodging and security. Taking a dig on the saboteurs abetting youth to pelt stones and indulge in subversive activities, he said that they were responsible for the death of 76 people as they had abetted the same. Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Rajesh Padgotra, Mrs. Manju Singh, Gagan Partap, Sham Gorkha, Mrs. Kesar Parveen, Paramjit Marshal, Karnail Singh, Dharam Singh Bittu, Baldev Singh Mankotia, Arun Khajuria, Kewal Krishan Sharma, Sukhjit, Udhay Veer, Mohinder Singh, Puran Chand, Aditya Hans, Narinder Sharma, Rakesh Verma. |
