Forest sleuths foils bid of Illegal clearance of forest, JCB seized

Bhaderwah, Sept 9: The Forest team from Bhaderwah Division today foiled a major attempt of illegal clearance of forest through forest in Narnoo Darnga area (Compartment 66) of Bhaderwah Block of Neeru Range.
Official sources said, "After receiving inputs a team of forest officials rushed to the spot and seized one JCB from the spot in the wee hours however the drivers and his associates along with other persons managed to escape from the spot taking the advantage of darkness.
Official sources said that DFO Bhaderwah T B Singh received an information from reliable sources that some unscrupulous elements have started construction of a road during the wee hours in Narnoo Dranga area.
"A team of Forest officials led by forester Haroon Khan and Shafer Iqbal rushed to the spot and the JCB machine engaged for the construction was seized, he added. Senior Forest Official said that the miscreants had managed to construct nearly some mtrs of path in forest land and also damaged saplings in the process.
DFO Mr Singh said that due to the swift action of the department a major damage to the forests was averted as these men were stopped just short of entering thick forest.
"A case against the owner of the JCB u/s 2 of J&K Forest Conservation Act and Sec 6 of J&K Forest Act has been registered while a a man hunt has been launched to nab the guilty, DFO added.
Meanwhile flying squad of forest department in yet another attempt foiled a bid to encroach forest land in the Padri area of Bhaderwah.
"After a getting a tip off, team of forest flying squad was rushed to the spot but to their surprise the encroachers were all armed. Despite being unarmed, the forest officials put up a brave front and forced the encroachers to leave the spot after a four-hour stand-off," said Divisional Forest Officer Bhaderwah. He said the case have been reported to the concerned police in Padri area and it was requested them to register an FIR against the accused.
