Former Ambassador to Madagascar delivers lecture in CUJ

Jammu, Sept 9: As part of prominent lecture series, the Department of Mass Communication and New Media of Central University of Jammu on Friday organized a lecture in collaboration with Ministry of External Affairs, Public diplomacy Division.
The topic of lecture was "Diaspora: A key Source for India's foreign policy objectives and cultural diplomacy". Former Ambassador of India to Republic of Madagascar, Manju Seth was main speaker of the event, while as senior journalist Rahul Jalali and Vice Chancellor of Central University of Jammu graced the occasion. While delivering the welcome address, Head of Department of Mass Communication and New Media Prof. Deepshikha Kotwal introduced all the guests to the audience by giving a brief introduction.
Speaking on the occasion, former Ambassador Manju Seth talked about the diaspora and foreign policy.
"How it (diaspora) acts as a tool to interact with other countries, thus leading to friendly ties, safeguard security in any form to create better relations", she asserted.
She emphasized on the relations of India with most powerful countries of the world like USA, Russia, China and neighbouring countries. Highlighting further, she said that get a permanent seat in United Nations (UN) Security Council was also one of the primary objective of the foreign policy.
Speaking about cultural diplomacy, Manju Seth said soft power diplomacy is being used to create an environment in each other's county to create a people to people connection, in order to make the governments realize the wishes of people. Eulogizing the cultural values of country, Manju Seth asserted that Indian cultural values are celebrates all across the world. The lecture was followed by a question answer session, moderated by senior journalist Rahul Jalali. The concluding address was given by Vice Chancellor Prof Ashok Aima, who thanked Manju Seth for sparing her valuable time and for sharing her views.
Prof. Aima talked various initiatives taken by union government to strengthen the foreign policies and also stressed on the cultural diaspora with in the states and also within the countries.
