DDC reviews progress of agriculture, allied sectors

RAMBAN, Sept 9: In order to ensure full physical and financial achievements under district plan and other state and centrally sponsored schemes, District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ramban, Mohammad Aijaz convened review meeting with Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Handloom, Handicraft, KVIB, Fishries and Industries department here today.
The meeting was attended by District Programme Officer, Ashok Pandita, Chief Planning Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, Deputy Registrar Cooperative, AD Handicraft, AD Fisheries and other district heads.
DDC took a detailed review of the ongoing developmental activities and directed the concerned officers to involve general public while implementing ongoing development schemes. "This will greatly help to achieve optimum result under various state and centrally sponsored schemes envisaging welfare and development of all areas", he asserted.
The DDC directed Deputy Register for expanding the scope of the cooperatives by involving PRIs and local people to boost the income of Rural masses. Stressing on establishing bee keeping units, the DDC instructed the CHO and CAHO for concerted efforts in mobilising the locals through mass awareness so that they become capable of earning from such accessible initiatives.
Chief Agriculture Officer informed that 11 centrally sponsored schemes are in progress for welfare of the people. He further added that 26503 Kissan ceridit cards have been disbursed to eligible farming families so far and a agriculture laboratory shall also be completed very soon at Maitra, he added.
Deputy Registrar Cooperative disclosed that more than 19 cooperative societies are functioning in Ramban along with two stationary shops and one school. A plan for establishing Malls at Ramban and Banihal has been proposed, he said.
