SPO's house set ablaze in Verinag | | | Saahil Suhail Early Times Report Anantnag, Oct 31: Residential house of a Special Police Officer (SPO) was set on fire by some miscreants in Hall village of South Kashmir's Verinag area during the intervening night. Reports said that miscreants set ablaze the residential house of Naseer Ahmad Malik s/o Ghulam Rasool Malik at around 11:30 when the family members were sleeping. Naseer Ahmad Malik is working with Jammu Kashmir Police as Special Police Officer (SPO) and is posted at Police Station Dooru. "We were targeted because my brother is working with Police," Naseer's brother told media this morning. Narrating the sequence of events, he said, "We firstly experienced some movement over the rooftop, I thought it was a cat roaming over but sometime later our front door was knocked too. Later we heard cries from the neighbours informing us about the fire and asking us to leave the house," he said. "When I came out, I found my house in flames. Fire spread quickly as if someone had sparkled petrol on it," he added. He said that his village is reeling under darkness from last over a week so there was no question of short circuit being a reason behind the blaze "Our transformer is at Sub-division Anantnag from last week. We don't have electricity these days, all villagers are witness to this fact more over we just checked LPG cylinder that is too fine and doesn't have a leak," he said. Meanwhile Police has registered a case and has started investigation to know the actual cause of fire. |
