A senior police is alleged to have allotted him 2 PSOs | 'Absconder' enjoys police protection | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 31: Declared 'absconder' by court, a 'trader' is alleged to have been given two PSOs (personal security officers) for his protection. The PSOs were given to him by a senior police officer a few months back for 'unknown' reasons, police sources alleged. The court had a few days back issued warrants of arrest against the trader and his four associates in connection with a case registered against them at a city police station under sections 307, 147, 148 and 149 of RPC and sections 3/25 and 4/25 of Arms Act. According to the statement of a cop and a SPO of the concerned police station, they, accompanied by the SHO, searched for the accused by could not find them. "They have deliberately absconded and could not be found. There is no scope of their appearance in near future," they submitted. "I have persued the chargesheet along with the material placed on record; the prayer of senior PO is accepted and proceedings under section 512 of CrPC are initiated against the accused," the court had directed. A complaint against the grant of PSOs to the trader by the senior police officer also stands lodged with chief minister Mehbooba Mufti. The complaint has been lodged by a Chatha Farm resident. Any action was, however, yet awaited. |
