Mehbooba is right, separatists not | Kashmir political scene | |
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 31: PDP president and J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti's pro-active approach in the trouble-torn and militant-infested Kashmir has upset and rattled separatists. Almost all of them have ganged up against her and her government and leveled wild charge that her government has unleashed a reign of senseless brutalities against the so-called peaceful unarmed civilians of Kashmir. Geelani has attacked her and her government umpteen times. Malik has denounced her and her government several times during all these more than 110 days of turmoil created by the separatists themselves to promote their sinister agenda and get Kashmir out of India. Mirwaiz too has not lagged behind. He also jumped on to the anti-Mehbooba Mufti bandwagon and unleashed devious campaign against her government. Soon after Mirwaiz was released, he spit venom on the Chief Minister and the Government of India and accused them of going beyond the constitutional confines in their desperate bid to kill the movement. What provoked Mirwaiz was the otherwise very appropriate Udhampur statement of CM Mehbooba Mufti that the anti-social elements were burning down schools to deprive the common people of their right to acquire education and that the separatists/ wards were studying outside. Provoked and desperate Mirwaiz said CM Mehbooba Mufti through her speeches and utterances had "betrayed her ignorance disconnect and arrogance". So much so, he went to the extant of saying that Mehbooba Mufti had "subjugated" the people of Kashmir to please the BJP and RSS. His objectionable views were aired by his spokesperson and his statement read: "While she has completely lost the plot, having unleashed a reign of terror upon the people she claimed to represent, her moral turpitude and willingness to be used as a tool in the hands of RSS whose writ runs in the state, is too obvious to be even stated now. What does amuse and bewilder us is when she calls herself a human rights activist upholding the rights of people, or when she parrots the BJP script of 'which leader or his children got killed or injured' sounding like she wished it to happen and is regretting that it hasn't happened so far, or when she sermonizes Hurriyat leaders about the meaning of sacrifice". CM Mehbooba had only hit the nail on the head by exposing the treacherous separatist leadership and by calling their bluff. She was absolutely right when she batted for the suffering student community in the disturbed Valley and attacked those who had been burning schools all across the Valley, thus hitting the student community very hard. So far, the extremists have set on fire at least 25 schools, located in different parts of the Valley. The destruction of these schools has put at stake the very academic career of thousands of students, most of them from the poor families. It was her duty to bat for her people and she discharged that very faithfully. There are reasons to believe that the coming days would witness crackdown on those responsible for the destruction of these schools. The Prime Minister today also expressed concern over the phenomena of school burning. In fact, he asked the Union Home Ministry to take note of this development and ensure that no school is burned down. |
