Mr Bechara turns hardliner | Says, 20,000 Kashmiri youth ready to pick up guns | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 31: As life in Kashmir is fast returning to normal separatists are making last ditch attempts to somehow pro-long the ongoing unrest which is about to complete four months. Sources told Early Times the so-called chief of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Yasin Malik after coming from the jail has started behaving like a hardliner and is opposing the moves to end the protests in the Valley. Malik, sources said, has even, expressed dismay over Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Hurriyat dove, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, meeting the members of track-II team led by Yashwant Sinha, who held talks with them last week in Kashmir. "Malik wants separatists to keep on issuing the protest calendars and not to show any flexibility as he has got clear instructions from his bosses sitting across the Line of Control (LoC) to ensure that situation in Kashmir should remain grim," sources said. It's in place to mention here that Malik addressed a news conference in Srinagar on Sunday and launched a scathing attack at the writers and columnists for raising questions about the continuous shutdown in the Valley. "Unfortunately some writers and columnists are trying to create confusion by writing that some constituent bodies of separatists are not supporting the joint program. My suggestion to these columnists is to introspect and stop working at the behest of their masters. In the past 114 days of uprising, not a single leader has objected to the programs issued jointly by the resistance leadership," he said. Malik threatened that protests would continue and the present phase of turmoil is not going to end. He claimed that 20,000 youth are ready to pick up the arms. A Kashmir watcher said, "Just a few days ago Malik and his supporters were cribbing about him (Malik) being unwell. Even rumours were spread that he is ailing and his condition won't improve. They were projecting him as Mr Bechara. Out of jail he doesn't look sick and has once again started talking about violence, stone pelting and guns. It seems he just staged a drama to come out of the jail." He said, "During the past few days government has released many stone pelters and separatists. One hopes that this move doesn't backfire and situation in Kashmir doesn't take am ugly turn yet again." An analyst said, "The policy of the state government to appease the separatists and Pak-agents is bound to backfire. By releasing separatists and stone pelters government has undermined the efforts of the security forces, who went all out to ensure that normalcy returns in Kashmir." |
