38 fire incidents reported on Diwali | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 31: Around thirty eight incidents of fire were reported from across Jammu range on Diwali while property worth lakhs got gutted in these fire incidents. However, there was no loss of life or injury to anyone. As per officials of Department of Fire and Emergency Services, a total of 38 calls regarding fire incidents were reported with them from last evening. "The main incident of fire was reported from Janipur area where fire broke out in a hardware shop owned by Manoj Kumar Gupta last night, they said. After getting information, police team rushed to the spot and Department of Fire and Emergency Services were informed about the incident. The firefighters along with several fire tenders reached the spot and started operation to douse the flames. However it took several hours to bring the fire under control but till then property worth 15 lakhs was gutted in the inferno however there was no loss of life or injury reported in the incident. A case under relevant Section has been registered at Janipur police station and investigations are underway to ascertain the reason behind the incident and the exact value of the damages caused due to fire. Meanwhile, an open godown having rags and plastic was gutted in fire at Smadhian Road area, falling under the jurisdiction of Police Post Gujjar Nagar on Monday night. After getting the information two fire tenders were put into service and the fire was doused after some time. A case in this regard has been registered at Police Post Gujjar Nagar and investigations are on to ascertain the reason behind the incident. According to Department of Fire and Emergency Services, a total of 38 calls regarding fire incidents were reported with them from last evening. Officials added that property worth lakhs was damaged but no casualty or injury has been reported in both incidents. |
