Jammu, Dec 7: An Art Exhibition was organized by Viraj Kala Kendra Jammu at Viraj Art Gallery, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu in connection with a week- long celebrations of Birth Anniversary of Late V R Khajuria, an eminent sculptor, young and senior artists of Jammu participated in this competition. Dr. Aziz Hajini, Secretary, Academy of Art, Culture & Languages was the Chief Guest and Prof. Rita Jatindra, former Secretary, JKAACL was the Guest of Honour on this occasion. Sarla Sharma, Jang S. Verman, Milan Sharma and Suresh Sharma were among other prominent persons present on this occasion. Seventeen artists have displayed their paintings, drawings and sculptors in this show. The works of Milan Sharma, Jasleen Singh, Anuradha Devi, Richa Gupta, Amrit Kaur, Sahil Ohri, Darshan Singh and Jang S. Verman attracted the attention of the viewers for their quality of contemporary context. Works of Raj Bharti, Manoj Chopra, Jatinder Kaur and Rekha Gupte are good examples of realistic art of landscapes. The painting of Suresh Sharma is based on traditional ceremony. Rahul Sharma, Dhananjay Sharma and Virji Sumbly are the other artists whose works have also displayed in the exhibition. Dr. Aziz Hajini had the round of the exhibition and interacted with the artists present on the spot. He appreciated the works displayed in the exhibition. He also appreciated the efforts made by Smt. Raj Bharti to organize such show. He said that the visual artists should avail the projects, scholarships, fellowships and other schemes of the Ministry of Culture. He informed that the proposals for expanding art and culture avenues in the state has been proposed for consideration of the concerned streams. Earlier Smt. Raj Bharti, President, VKK welcomed the guests and briefed about the activities of Viraj Kala Kendra, Jammu. |
