Dabang SHO out to book whistleblowers
12/7/2016 10:59:24 PM

Early Times Report
Rajouri, Dec 7: The Dabang Station House officer (SHO) of Police Station Sunderbani has allegedly evolved a novel method to gag the whistleblowers who expose the rot in the system.
In the latest, officials said the Dabang SHO has asked the officials of departments like PDD, R&B, and Rural Development to file complaints of "misbehavior and intimidation by the whistleblowers."
A PDD engineer said the SHO asked him to file a complaint against a whistleblower as the government wants to "streamline the work of such activists."
"I did the same and put forward an application but to my utter surprise the man is being booked by Police. I never wanted to do this. I have decided to take back my complaint," the PDD official told Early Times.
He said he had approached Police following a call by whistleblower over misuse of electricity and some other power pilferage in the area by influential people.
In a conversation with the PDD official the whistleblower had highlighted that several commercial and domestic connections were running illegally in the area.
The PDD had approached police to seek remedy to the problem. "But as those resorting to power pilferage are known to the SHO, he wanted to gag the whistleblower before the theft is exposed," the officials claimed.
A senior official in the administration said they have received instructions from Police to "file as many complaints as possible against the whistleblower so that he is cut to size."
Meanwhile the whistleblower has decided to approach the Prime Minister's office over continuous harassment by Police for highlighting various wrongs in the system.
