Pellet victims 'curse' separatists for misleading them | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Dec 7: Kashmiri youth who were hit by pellets during the past five months of unrest in the Valley are regretting their decision to have joined the separatists sponsored so-called Azadi marches. A pellet victim, wishing not to be named, while talking to Early Times said, "Now we realize that we were used and exploited by the separatists and the militants to appease their masters sitting in Pakistan." He said, "Like me there are hundreds of youth who were injured during the ongoing unrest. Since the day we have been hit by the pellets none of the separatists have come forward to ascertain our well being and do we need any help." Another pellet victim said, "Recently a separatist leader Shabir Shah took one pellet hit girl for treatment to Mumbai. He (Shah) ensured that he gets wide publicity for doing so and turned that victim into a showpiece." Family members of a youth, who is undergoing treatment at SMHS hospital said, "We are thankful to Dr Natrajan, who visits Kashmir every month, and treats the patients like my son due to his efforts my son's vision has been restored partially. Otherwise we had lost all the hope." They said, "No doctor from Pakistan or so-called Azad Kashmir (PoK) came to treat our wards. Doctors from different parts of India visited Kashmir and lend a helping hand to the victims. Separatists hoodwinked us and militants used to intimidate us by appearing in dead of the nights. They (militants) used to threaten us of dire consequences if we didn't participate in these so-called Azadi marches. They (militants) used to lead these marches towards camps of security forces and police stations. Many people were injured in the retaliatory action by the forces." A Kashmir watcher said, "Many students who missed their exams due to being hit by pellets are now realizing how they were used as canon-fodder by the separatists and the militants to keep the pot boiling." He said, "The past five months of unrest has exposed the separatists and they stand isolated. Besides using young boys these people orchestrated protests and arson in a very professional manner by hiring criminals, goons and history-sheeters. Protest lost the momentum after the Prime Minister Narendra Modi scrapped the Rs 500/ and Rs 1000/ notes as separatists couldn't pay their aides to foment trouble." An analyst said, "One feels sorry for the youth who were injured during this Halla-Gulla in Kashmir. Many victims are poor and cannot afford the treatment. They are struggling for survival and are cursing themselves for playing into the hands of separatists." |
